Wow. It's been a whole twelve months since I built my weatherproof webcam and stuck it on the roof of my house. I did wonder how well it would fare against the full force of the British weather which, lets face it, means it's gonna get wet... a lot.

Surprisingly the camera has worked without fault despite the sun beating down at over 30 degrees Celsius in the summer, down to -7 in the winter and a load of hail, snow and rain in between.

Even more surprisingly, no spiders have chosen to weave their web in front of the thing and then sit stubbornly mooning the camera lens and no birds have shat on the glass.

Time then to reflect on some of the highs and lows of life for a webcam in Warwickshire sat atop a television aerial...

Guy Fawkes night

Not quite 5th November but someone in one of those houses had their fireworks a couple of days later. Remember this is a live webcam and images are overwritten every fifteen seconds. To capture something I have to be bored enough to be sat in front of my computer poised to save an image if it looks interesting. Not much of interest happens around here but I caught three fireworks popping at the moment of capture last November.

I just happened to have been in front of my computer on Christmas Eve when I caught this. It was in no way GIMP'ed...

Honestly.
